About this opportunity
Engineer is responsible for leading and driving system level Value Engineering and Component Engineering initiatives across project engineering side of Process Automation (PA / HPS) portfolios. This role owns end‑to‑end VE/CE projects, drives architecture and supplier changes, and acts as a technical authority for cost optimization in PA systems while protecting compliance, safety, and customer commitments.
This position is expected to operate with high autonomy and influence across Engineering, ISC, Manufacturing, and Suppliers. Good communication and negotiation skills are required daily basis in connection with enablers involved in these projects – Engineering teams, ISC, Manufacturing site, Suppliers, Third party sub-contractors, Installation and commissioning Engineers and contractors, System integrators .
Key Responsibilities
Projects VE / CE Execution
Lead VE/CE projects for PA system‑level offerings (Experion PKS, cabinets, control platforms, networking, I/O, RTU and related system hardware) from project engineering side.
Identify cost‑out opportunities across: System architecture
Cabinets and enclosure platforms
Electrical, electronic, and mechanical assemblies
Third‑party hardware and supplier components
Develop and execute VE/CE project charters including scope, baseline cost, savings potential, risks, and mitigation.
Drive projects through ideation → feasibility → implementation → validation → closure.
System Engineering & Architecture
Analyze PA system designs, block diagrams, BOMs, and drawings to identify: Redundancy reduction
Design simplification
Standardization and reuse
Make‑vs‑Buy opportunities
Support architecture evolution initiatives (e.g., platform consolidation, modular designs, common sub‑systems).
Ensure VE/CE changes comply with PA system requirements, safety standards, certifications (IECEx, ATEX, CSA, UL), and customer specs.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with: Project Engineering & Proposal teams during execution and bid support
Manufacturing sites (e.g., cabinet factories, PA assembly sites)
ISC / Sourcing on supplier changes, negotiations, and dual sourcing
Quality & Certification teams for impact assessment
Support BAE / VECE ideation workshops and factory productivity initiatives.
Financial & Productivity Ownership

Identify new opportunities and new policy identification for Pre and post award stages.
Build business cases including NRE, ROI, payback, and risk assessment.
Track and report projects in approved VECE tools and governance mechanisms.
Support AOP, STRAP, and pipeline planning for PA VE/CE initiatives.
Governance, Documentation & Reviews
Prepare and present VE/CE proposals at system, GBE, or COE reviews.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
8–12+ years experience in process Automation systems, control engineering, or industrial automation.
Strong experience with system‑level design and cost ownership.
Proven track record of delivering VE/CE or cost‑optimization projects.
Preferred
Strong knowledge in PA project engineering process, Experion PKS or similar DCS platforms.
Strong knowledge of certification‑driven system environments.
Experience working with global manufacturing sites and suppliers.
Mentoring or technical leadership experience.
Success Indicators
Delivery of sustained VE/CE savings
Adoption of optimized system architectures

How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
